The 20 of March in Athens were marked as a day with series of robberies. At first, four unknown men, armed with kalashnikovs, attempted to commit a robbery of an armoured truck and in a Hellenic Bank branch (ELTA). They blocked the way of the Hermes Security Group armoured truck on 50 Spyros Patsis Street and when the vehicle stopped, they opened fired. The driver of the armoured truck was wounded on the leg. In spite of his wounding, the driver sped away, which resulted in the perpetrators abandoning their attempt and escaping. Shortly after, two unknown men broke in a Hellenic Post branch (ELTA) on 19 Vasikleous Street. Under the threat of guns, they grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and following got away on a motorbike towards an unknown direction. An Alpha Bank branch on 36 Trion Ieararchon Street was robbed at 11:30. The perpetrators seized an undisclosed amount of money and got away.
