The exhibition entitled "From arhaeophilia to philhellenism" take place at the National Historical Museum until the end of May 2006. The exhibition features literary publications, etchings, maps, monumental albums, decorative objects and objects of daily use. Through these works of art can follow the progressive passage of the Europeans from the adoration for ancient Greek culture to the admiration for the modern Greeks. Until the beginning of the 19th century, the references on the political and social situation of the Greeks are gradually increased while the interest for the modern Greeks becomes more intensive. With the outbreak of the Greek Revolution, a Philhellenic movement is aiming at the moral and practical support of the Greeks revolt against the powerful Ottoman Empire.
